The Mackay Region covers the (8) Shires of Bowen, Whitsunday, Mackay, Sarina, Broadsound, Belyando, Nebo and Mirani – an area of approx 90,000 square klms with a population of around 140,000. We are part of a national network of over 50 ACCs, funded by the Department of Transport and Regional Services.

Our Role, What do ACCs do?
The Mackay Region ACC works in partnership with local business and community groups to develop innovative projects that will improve the economic base of our region and create new employment opportunities. We help groups to access funding through the Australian Government’s Regional Partnership Program ,and assist them to develop their projects.

The Mackay Region ACC provides an important link between the Australian Government and Regional Australia. In this capacity, our ACC is uniquely placed to respond to issues in the region and provide a vital conduit to government on local, social and economic conditions. ACCs are an example of how the Australian Government is working in partnership with business and community to achieve regional economic growth by harnessing opportunities for new jobs; actively supporting small business; assisting communities in structural reform and addressing skills development needs.
